Career Advisement

Wes Watkins Technology Center is a public secondary and post-secondary institution offering specialized training and education in a variety of careers. Most majors are nine months in length with self-paced individualized instruction preparing students for entry-level employment. The LAP (Learning Activity Packet) is utilized extensively. Some majors may require prerequisites to enrollment. Student Financial Aid is available to qualified applicants and job placement is also available.

The Wes Watkins Technology Center Counselor is available for individual or group counseling. Counseling and assessment are designed to assist students in better understanding their abilities, attitudes, interests, and learning styles. This allows the staff and instructors at WWTC to better meet the individuals needs of each student and insure proper placement in an appropriate pathway of study.

Pathways of study vary in length. Typical full time majors are from 1050 hours to over 2000 hours. The Academic Center is open during regular school hours and is also open from 3:00 - 4:00 pm Monday - Thursday for any individual needing its services. In addition to coordinating testing and assessment the Academic Center also assists students with improving their basic skills (reading, language, and math), conducting employability skills sessions, providing assistance in portfolio/resume preparation, and performing competency and occupational testing.
