GED Classes

More options are being added to accommodate students who are trying to get their GED (General Education Development). The Holdenville GED class is now being offered at WWTC. GED students can ride on the buses which have pick-up and drop-off locations at each of the nine partner schools (Dustin, Graham, Hanna, Holdenville, Mason, Moss, Weleetka, Wetumka, and Okemah).

GED classes are free and are being taught from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12 – 3 p.m. on the campus of WWTC. The classes are offered through OSU Institute of Technology of Okmulgee and are instructed by Candy Doak. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday in WWTC’s Academic Center classroom.

GED classes are for individuals who did not complete high school and would like to obtain a GED certificate. The classes prepare students to take the GED tests which covers five areas in Language Arts: Reading, Language Arts; Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics.

Even though an individual may not have finished high school, they gained knowledge and skills through experiences, reading, and informal training. The GED tests are designed to measure the important knowledge and skills, usually learned during four years of high school that may have been obtained in a different manner.
