Students of Wes Watkins Technology Center have the opportunity to compete for the honor of Student of the Month. To be nominated a student must have excellent attendance and grades, participate in classroom and community service activities, and demonstrate leadership and cooperation within their class. They will prepare a brief essay as to why they deserve the honor and participate in an interview with a non-partial panel. Monetary awards from the WWVTC Foundation and gifts from sponsors are presented to both the winner and the runner-up each month. The winners of Student of the Month are eligible for the Student of the Year competition.

Traveling trophies will be presented to the a.m. and p.m. Student of the Month winners to be kept in their classrooms. Each month, as new Student of the Month winners are selected, the trophies will travel to the new winners' classrooms. At the end of the year, a special award will be presented the a.m. and p.m. class with the highest number of winners.
