This program prepares the student to become a Practical Nurse - an important member of the healthcare team who works under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist in the many areas of healthcare. Students will learn the role of the PN and how to care for a variety of patients including geriatric, pediatric, oncology, and pre/post-operative patients. Students will learn how to identify patient problems, identify appropriate interventions and evaluate nursing care. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN and become licensed through the Board of Nursing. |

PREREQUISITES There are three (3) Prerequisite Courses that are required to be completed prior to being accepted into the Practical Nursing program. 1. Multi-Skilled Healthcare Professional (MSHP)
The WWTC Practical Nursing program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for practical nurses. Applicants must meet all state and federal requirements to hold an Oklahoma license to practice nursing. In addition to completing a state-approved nursing education program that meets educational requirements and successfully passing the licensure examination, requirements include submission of an application for licensure, a criminal history records search, and evidence of citizenship or qualified alien status [59 O.S. §§ 567.5 & 567.6].
